Children under two years old with signs of atopic dermatitis have an increased risk of developing asthma and food allergies, researchers report in JAMA Pediatrics. And, young children with both early onset atopic dermatitis and a food allergy, have a “very high risk” of developing asthma or allergic rhinitis.

Patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis in the pediatric population is performed at a higher rate than previously reported, but still grossly underreported, according to a study of the Pediatric Contact Dermatitis Registry.

Dr. Skin has a large dermatology practice and treats a variety of medical and cosmetic conditions. He has studied and lectured extensively on the topic of rosacea. He understands much of the pathophysiology of rosacea. He begins to use a copycat version of a compounded topical, which he has been able to get at a discounted rate. Laser treatments can have a significant positive impact on a child’s wellbeing. Adopt techniques to minimize anxiety for children. Some conditions can be treated when the child is older.

The neonatal microbiome

Cesarean section newborns have a slightly delayed microbiome response. The richness of microorganisms is less than vaginally delivered newborns by 3-7 days. Use products on neonatal skin that are designed for neonatal skin.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries announced in September the FDA has approved a new label for sonidegib (Odomzo, Novartis), an oral hedgehog inhibitor indicated for the treatment of adults with locally advanced basal cell carcinoma (laBCC) that has recurred following surgery or radiation therapy, or for patients who are not candidates for surgery or radiation therapy.

There is no doubt that living with distinguishing physical features can be difficult. More than one study has ranked chronic skin disease as a condition with the greatest negative impact on a child’s quality of life. The expert words of medical providers can have a significant impact on these essential concerns.
