In a move that further expands its footprint in the health and wellness media landscape, MJH Life Sciences, the full-service medical media company that oversees Dermatology Times, has announced its acquisition of NewBeauty, a leading media brand in the beauty and aesthetics sector. The acquisition, previously under the ownership of SANDOW Media, marks a notable shift in the evolving convergence between clinical expertise and consumer-driven wellness content.1-2

Founded in 2005, NewBeauty has carved out a unique niche as “The Beauty Authority” through its multimedia platform, combining editorial content with product discovery tools and experiential engagement. The brand is widely recognized for its quarterly print publication, digital presence, and experiential programs such as TestTube, a beauty subscription service, and BeautyPass, a membership-based initiative that connects consumers with aesthetic practitioners and product experiences.

The brand's credibility and influence stem from its integration of expert input—particularly from board-certified dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and cosmetic dentists—into content that targets both professionals and beauty-conscious consumers. This hybrid approach, blending clinical insights with consumer interests, positions NewBeauty uniquely within the broader wellness and beauty sectors.

"I’m very excited that science meets beauty in this new and exciting collaboration!! I cannot wait to contribute further to this new amalgam that will help educate all different groups of people including patients and HCPs," Karan Lal, DO, MS, FAAD, told Dermatology Times upon hearing of the acquisition.

MJH Life Sciences sees the acquisition as a strategic complement to its existing media assets, which focus on delivering health care news, education, and market intelligence across various specialties. By incorporating NewBeauty into its portfolio, MJH aims to strengthen its offerings in aesthetic medicine, a field where medical expertise increasingly intersects with lifestyle media and consumer decision-making.

“This acquisition aligns perfectly with our broader vision at MJH Life Sciences,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH, in a news release. “NewBeauty is a beacon of trust in the beauty space. By combining our deep clinical roots with NewBeauty’s influence, we’re redefining what it means to lead in the aesthetics space and shaping the future of beauty through information, inspiration and innovation.”

The acquisition is also consistent with MJH’s ongoing growth strategy, which has been bolstered by its 2021 partnership with BDT & MSD Partners, a capital management firm known for backing family- and founder-led companies. For MJH, which historically focused on delivering clinically grounded news and resources to health care professionals, the addition of NewBeauty signals a deliberate expansion into more consumer-facing media, while still maintaining a strong emphasis on expert-led content. The company expects to realize synergies in editorial development, digital innovation, experiential marketing, and professional education—offering advertisers and partners broader reach and deeper audience engagement.

This acquisition may also reflect broader trends within the beauty and wellness industries, where consumer interest in medically informed beauty solutions—ranging from skin care to cosmetic procedures—has continued to grow. By leveraging MJH’s established expertise in medical communications, NewBeauty could further position itself as a bridge between clinical authority and consumer relevance.

While terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, both companies emphasize a shared commitment to quality, trust, and innovation in their respective domains. As MJH integrates NewBeauty into its operations, stakeholders across the health, beauty, and wellness sectors will be watching closely to see how this union shapes the next phase of content and engagement strategies in an increasingly interconnected media landscape.
