Michael Gold, MD, on the Energy, Excitement, and Innovation of South Beach Symposium

Michael Gold, MD, shares why the South Beach Symposium remains a must-attend legacy event for dermatologists, blending education and innovation.

The South Beach Symposium (SBS) is more than just a dermatology conference—it's a legacy meeting that continues to set the standard for education and innovation in the field, according to Michael Gold, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Nashville, Tennessee.

In a recent conversation with Dermatology Times, Gold shared his enthusiasm for the annual event, which has long been a highlight for dermatologists looking to stay at the forefront of the specialty.

"It is a wonderful event that’s been around for a long time," he said. "I’ve had the pleasure of working with them for years and years and years, and it’s truly one of the—what I call—‘legacy meetings.’"

Gold, who runs a large clinic and research facility in Nashville and is actively involved in global dermatology meetings and journal editing, emphasized that SBS remains one of the most cutting-edge gatherings in the field. Its long-standing reputation, coupled with a location that offers a welcome escape from colder climates, makes it a favorite among attendees.

"In the winter, being able to go to Miami Beach is a good thing for most everybody because of the cold everywhere else," he noted. "South Beach is a special place. South Beach Symposium is a special meeting, and I’m glad to be part of it."

As SBS 2025 begins, Gold highlights the event’s focus on high-level dermatology education and networking opportunities.
